A simple and delicious bread sandwich
Some days, I just want to make something quick without thinking too much about what to cook.
That was exactly the mood I was in when I made this sandwich. I did not go through any recipie, just trusted by instincts.
I had some bread, eggs, ham and cheese at home, so I thought, why not put them all together? I soaked the bread in a simple egg mixture before cooking it, and somehow that little extra step made an ordinary sandwich feel much more special.
The outside became lightly golden and buttery, while the cheese melted beautifully inside with the ham. It was soft, warm and filling — exactly the kind of simple homemade food I love.
And honestly, I didn’t measure everything perfectly. I just added a little of this and a little of that, depending on what I had in the kitchen. That’s the beauty of home cooking for me.
What I Used
- 2 slices of bread
- 1 egg
- A small splash of fresh milk
- 2–3 slices of ham
- Cheese, as much as you like
- A little salt
- A little black pepper
- Butter for cooking
How I Made It
First, I whisked one egg with a small splash of milk, a little salt and some black pepper.
Then I dipped both sides of the bread into the egg mixture, making sure the bread absorbed it nicely without becoming too soggy.
I warmed a pan and added a little butter. Once it melted, I placed the egg-soaked bread into the pan and cooked it gently over medium-low heat.

Then came my favourite part — the filling.
I added ham and plenty of cheese before placing the second slice of bread on top. I let the sandwich cook slowly on both sides until the bread turned golden and the cheese inside became beautifully melted.
And that’s it.
Nothing complicated. Nothing fancy.
Just a warm sandwich made from a few things I already had at home.
I love recipes like this because they remind me that you don’t always need a long ingredient list to make something delicious. Sometimes, a few simple ingredients, a little butter and a few quiet minutes in the kitchen are enough.
If I have some leftover vegetables, chicken or even tuna another day, I might add those too. This is definitely one of those recipes you can change depending on what’s sitting in your fridge.
For me, that’s what everyday home cooking is really about — using what you have, making something with love, and enjoying the little moments around food.

A little Curlysinn kitchen note
If you have a toddler running around while you’re cooking, don’t worry about making this perfectly. Mine certainly wouldn’t give me enough peaceful time to make a picture-perfect sandwich!
Just make it your own, keep it simple, and enjoy it while it’s warm.
