My 16-month-old Baby Boy’s routine

Life with my 1-year-4-month-old Hithesh is a mix of routine and surprises. Each day is simple, but full of little moments that mean everything. I am super tired, but he always teaches me how to calm myself down and reminds me that I am someone who has to bear everything like a mountain because I am his world.

Our morning starts early. Sometimes he wakes up around 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. with a smile and full of energy, but there are times he wakes up crying. After a cozy cuddle, he soothes himself. Then I go to prepare my husband’s lunch pack, and after he leaves, we get ready for breakfast. I usually give him soft and healthy foods like mashed banana, oats with milk, or a boiled egg, chicken, and rice. My worry is that he doesn’t like to eat by himself—he opens his mouth like a little bird and asks me to feed him.

BREAKFAST

After breakfast, we have a bit of playtime and then a wash. Soon after the wash, he needs a good, sound sleep. This is a must part of his daily routine, as he is used to it.

After a good sleep, I cuddle him, and we both lie leisurely in the playpen.

LUNCH

After he wakes up, we have lunch together. His lunch is usually something simple and nutritious like soft rice with vegetables, mashed potatoes, lentils, or small pieces of chicken. I always try to keep his meals balanced and easy for him to eat, and I avoid instant foods most of the time.

Then it’s playtime again. He walks around, plays with his toys, and follows me everywhere. I spend this time talking to him, reading small picture books, or singing songs. It’s also when he learns new words and sounds.

AFTERNOON

In the afternoon, we sometimes go for a walk. He enjoys being outside and watching everything around him. When we come back, he might have a small snack like fruit pieces, yogurt, or sometimes his formula.

EVENINGS

Evenings are calmer. After some light play, we have dinner. Dinner is usually similar to lunch—soft rice, vegetables, or something warm and easy to digest. I keep it simple and comforting. He loves having dinner with us most days, and we as a family really enjoy this time.

DINNER

After dinner, we start his bedtime routine. A warm wash, a quiet moment, and cuddles help him relax. Then he falls asleep, ending our day peacefully.

My 16-month-old Baby Boy’s routine is thus.

This routine is not perfect, but it works for us. It’s filled with love, patience, and small happy moments. Watching him eat, play, and grow every day is the most beautiful part of my life.

Motherhood is always an undefinable feeling, isn’t it?
