Dear moms, is there a poem that your baby loves most,.
I don’t know how it happened, but for my Hithesh, there is one beautiful poem he loves endlessly. That is”My Bonny lies over the ocean”, I learned the song at the very first when I was in primary school, and I hadn’t sung it for years—I had almost forgotten about it. But when Hithesh was born, and even before his birth, during my pregnancy, I somehow remembered it again. I used to sing it while gently rubbing my belly. It just came back to me naturally.
It became a small, quiet habit—I did without planning, but it felt comforting. However, it came out. There was something about the tune, the rhythm, that made it feel right in those moments. After he was born, I noticed I kept going back to that same song. Out of all the songs I could have sung, this was the one that stayed and miraculously I could cure all his discomforts with this magic song, for a moment he silent and suprisingly looks at my moving lips and then give a smile.

Maybe because it was already there during those early days, or maybe because it carried a sense of familiarity and calm. It’s simple, gentle, and easy to repeat, which somehow makes it perfect. I have no idea about the logic there, this poem works as my life-saving thread!!
Whenever he gets restless and nothing seems to calm him down, my husband’s first request is always, “Darling, sing that song for him.” It makes me smile every time—haha, it just shows the power of my poem.
It’s funny how something so small—a song from my childhood—became our song in a way. And now, every time I sing it, it carries not just the memory of school days, but also those quiet moments before and after Hithesh came into my life.
Poems are just words to them at first, I thought, but later I understood they carry something special.
“Mamas reading my stories? Please let me know—have you had a similar experience, poem that your baby loves? I’d love to hear from you.”
