How about your gardening

How about your gardening this time of the year?

Last week we went to buy some crops and flowers for planting in our backyard. since it is the best time of year, we set off. Our sweet little boy like his mom and dad love to see outside, in fact Whenever he feels bored, I go to the park with him, believe me after returning home he calms down and falls into sleep most of the times. So, such short walks thrills him endlessly. ( good enough tip to settle a restless kid, just change the environment)

I started growing in my small backyard last year but it ended up with a mess. My little plant souls could not bear my negligence towards them. Truly, that was not my “negligence” even though I referred so, I was carrying our sweet little boy inside me. I was literally, lifeless and moved like a scarecrow, the pregnancy hit toughly. So how could I get up and protect my plant souls. But this time, I feel things are getting harder even more with this six month old energetic bundle. But I determined and promised myself “not to give up”. Yes it is a promise.

Last week, I put them into new pots, fertilized and watered them. Caring and nourishing them is always on my to-do list nowadays. I store rice-washed water and use it to water my new plants; it is said to be very beneficial and nutritious for plant growth. I started my gardening journey early this April, full of excitement and plans. But life had other ideas—we had to travel to Sri Lanka unexpectedly. With little time to prepare, I left a few of my potted plants, including gotukola (a beloved Sri Lankan leafy green) and some spinach, just as they were.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much. I thought the trip and the change in routine might take a toll on them. But to my surprise, both plants not only survived—they thrived! Coming back to see them green, healthy, and very much alive felt like a little gift from nature. Sometimes, the garden really does have its own quiet resilience.

Since then, checking out my plants has come top of my to-do list. I could not be surprised and thrilled by the time of growing my plant souls grow day by day. The gardening process, this time of the year, reminded many lessons to me,

One thing I’ve come to realize is that nature is always trying to give something back. Even a small plant will fight to survive, to grow on its own, the moment it gets a chance. It’s a reminder that life has an instinct to keep going. And if we’re in a position to stand on our own two feet, with our heads held high, then we can move forward too. Most of the time, excuses are just a way of holding ourselves back.

So, how about your gardening this time of the year.
