Bookworm – Episode 1

Books and Magazines Entertainment

My love for reading started at a very tender age. Any place is good with a mind-soothing book. Sometimes I sit on a garden bench or sometimes my bed becomes my reading kingdom. How was your childhood reading?

By then I had no great collection but I borrowed some from my friends and the town library. When I started with academics, I hardly had time for extra reading. But I did not give up.

After completing the proper academic career I wanted to restart my reading journey. However, it was not an easy task with my tiresome professional schedule. My life in this unknown land provided me sufficient time to restart my reading habit, but finding physical books in my mother language which is used only by “Sri Lankans” was not easy. So pausing my idea for searching “Sinhala books” for while I started with what I could find out.

Today onward I thought to exchange my ideas and contents of the books I am reading by the time. Most probably these “book explorations” will be displayed as continuous episode series under the entertainment category of the blog.

The opening of an interesting bookworm episode is going to start.

I started with self-help books. Anyone in this club with an idea of “self-help books”

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey.

I see this guide book as a remarkable piece, with an integrated problem-solving mechanism. The writer covers up, seven major habits we hardly think of in order to change personal achievements and influence for a better life. The 7 components namely as follow,

  1. Be Proactive
  2. Begin with the End in Mind
  3. Put First things First
  4. Think Win/Win
  5. Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the Saw

As I mentioned earlier these terminologies are a bit strange for us, whereas we use these for a better successful life even without our knowledge. But the importance of going through these seven components is wordless. If we know each carefully it is easy to build up ourselves. It is very true to say that none of this is quick fixable but it is a time taking step by step-by-step journey which need to have patience and courage.

Here onward I love to discuss the above components one by one, with my feelings.

Keep in touch, I love to hear from you!!!
