Today I am placing a simple question. Are you picky about books you choose to read?
If the same question is placed on me, I would be speechless for a moment. It is an undeniable attachment, between books and me. I am missing my childhood reading. But my earnest desire about books is never ending.
Last week I picked up a copy of Around the world in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. From here. The plot was really interesting and the writing style too. But I was really worried about, that Mr. Fogg could not afford to stop and explore his surrounding. But I throughlly enjoyed travelling with Mr.Fogg of course. Hahaha!!! I know I am late to this book, but glad I am giving it time.
When picking up a book, what do you necessarily think of? Any important features?
Usually, I jot down the specific list of books I am looking for in my IPad, and then making the alternations I keep up the list. I am a weired reader of course, and to be honest, my book picking is mostly based on my inner feelings and core interests that I am bearing. This happens most of the times. I do not know how good is it, but it happens.
Most of my book recommendations come from the people who I follow. And do not depend on critics. The picking is solely based on my choice. I don’t necessarily pay attention to books that win best awards, and the best recommendations all the time. Some bookish moments with strangers make me curious and makes myself to read the same book twice sometimes.
The smell of old books too attract me. Such an enchanting smell. There were times I crept into old book boutiques. The bibliosmia!!! Sometimes it gives off a sweet almond like smell. I do not think twice to buy such a smelly book, if I have enough cash!! Does bibliosmia make you to buy certain books?
While tending to house chores
I have been reading some poems, short stories while tending to house work for sometime. Do some cooking sit for a bit at the dinning table in my little kitchen, read a bit, gets up and back to cooking. I feel so good on this multi tasking and my husband is so amazing with this. (hahah) Anyone doing the same?
Latest trend; Autobiographies and Memoirs
Lately I found Autobiographies and Memoirs as interesting and started loving this category. It inspired me to think in a different perspective, a different learning about the life we are having. How people spent their life in an extraordinary way is awful, and you might wonder most of the times. I found that self exploration is always amazing and it teaches you the meaning and how to become.
Something odd to this age!! Hahaah!!
And I am revealing something odd, to be honest I still love illustrated books. No judgements please!! When in selecting I pay attention on on drawings, pictures and other illustrations too. It pleases and focusing me more. Moreover illustrations itself are a graceful invitation to read the book. I believe illustrations stick you into what you read!!
