Weekend Refreshing.

Here is how we spent this weekend.

Every weekend is not the same. Some are calm quite while some are busy.

This is one of the Japanese restaurants we came to frequently before our boy was born. After a long time, we came to the same restaurant with our boy for lunch.

We ordered the menu

White rice portion with Chicken Karage salad and Miso. We always love the Karage dressing. he miso salad was light and refreshing, with fresh greens coated in a slightly sweet and savoury miso dressing. It’s the kind of salad that doesn’t feel heavy but still has a deep, umami flavour that makes it memorable.

The white rice, soft and perfectly steamed, balanced everything on the plate. Japanese rice has a way of making meals feel calm and grounding — simple, yet essential.

And of course, the star of the meal: karaage. These bite-sized pieces of Japanese fried chicken were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, seasoned with soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. In fact, every bite was crunchy, flavourful, and comforting — the kind of food you instantly crave again.

It wasn’t a fancy meal, but that’s what made it special. Just good food, good company, and the quiet joy of discovering comfort in everyday moments — the kind of experience that makes dining out feel like a small lifestyle ritual rather than just a meal.

Have you ever watched our childhood favorite ඥානකතා මල්ලියා. In Japan, he is famous as Anpanman. Anpanman is one of Japan’s most beloved children’s characters, known for his kind heart and unforgettable anpan (red bean bun) head. Created by Japanese author Takashi Yanase, Anpanman is a superhero who helps anyone in need, often giving away parts of his own head to feed the hungry — a simple but powerful symbol of compassion and selflessness.

Through colourful books, animations, and toys, Anpanman teaches children about friendship, generosity, courage, and doing good without expecting anything in return. His stories are gentle, joyful, and full of life lessons that feel just as meaningful for adults as they are for kids.

Anpanman Books. There is an Anpanman museum in Japan, also. For many families in Japan, Anpanman is more than a character — he’s a nostalgic part of growing up and a reminder that kindness is the greatest superpower of all.

We stopped at a bicycle shop.

Because our boy is good at kicking. So here is the best thing for that.
