Beautiful Things

Here are some Beautiful Things from my personal smartphone gallery that brought me happiness lately. In fact, as I always believe joy does not depend on luxury items, even a dew on a petal or a hearty dish you cook can bring joy to you.

If you love to see here is mine,

It says Freshly baked bread made with Hokkaido wheat.” Hokkaido is the southernmost tip of Japan. When I pass this beautiful bakery, the warm smell of bread in the oven enchants me. It truly feels like the perfect start to a fresh day.

A wooden Hut by the road.

There is a beautiful story behind this famous statute, but I myself also came to know on that after having a search in internet later. Here is the story if you would love to know. This is the famous, Japanese religious statue of Ninomiya Sontoku (二宮尊徳) — a very famous historical figure.

. A boy reading a book

The statue shows a young boy reading while standing, which is the iconic pose of Ninomiya Sontoku. He is always depicted studying while working.

 . Firewood on his back

On his back you can see a bundle of firewood. This represents how, as a poor child, he collected wood to sell while still studying — a symbol of hard work + learning.

. A book in his hands

This represents self-education and moral discipline.

Ninomiya Sontoku, he was an 18th–19th century Japanese agricultural reformer and philosopher.

Born poor, he taught that:

Hard work, learning, and moral behavior can improve both the individual and society.

Because of this, he became a national symbol of diligence and self-improvement. In Japan, these statues are commonly placed at:

  • Schools
  • Libraries
  • Public institutions
  • Community centers

Life doesn’t always change in big, dramatic moments. Sometimes, it shifts quietly—through a warm cup of tea, a slow morning, a familiar song, or the comfort of being alone with your thoughts. This piece is a gentle reflection on the small, often unnoticed things that bring me happiness—a way for healthy living.
