Hithesh turned one this year, during a time when my home country was hit by terrible floods. We were far away from home, crying over the huge losses.
But how could we miss the iconic first birthday of our little fellow? One day, this is going to be such a memorable story for him. So we as parents need to mark his beautiful day at our best, that was our thought.
Exactly one year ago, on the 28th of November, after immense pain, you came into our world. Even the nurse told me how lucky I was—you arrived within just five hours of labor. You came to us in such a hurry, and above all, you are our sweet little hero who bravely struggled with the cord around your neck. Oh, I’m crying even now. What a superhero—so eager to come to Ammi and Thaththi, so eager to meet this world.
We love you so much.
Here are our birthday preparations for our sweet little boy, if you love to see.
Except for this small but beautiful and super-delicious cake, I prepared everything by myself—sometimes carrying him in the baby carrier, sometimes keeping him busy with all his toys.
Readers, I felt so proud of myself.
This homemade pizza is now our family favorite. It was with chicken, pizza Sause, garlic and melting cheese on top.

As for the charcuterie board—yes, I know it’s typically arranged on a wooden board or a stone slate. But I made a few changes because I always work with what I have. My board was a bit broken and discolored, so I used a big white plate instead. And I added cute little pieces of tuna sandwich, which isn’t traditionally a part of a charcuterie board, but I included it anyway.

Chips, cheese, fruits, sandwiches, and nuts were on my “board” (actually on my plate). It turned out so well, and this was my first attempt at preparing a charcuterie board.
I also made mini cupcakes with blueberries and some tuna sandwich with carrot spread.

And this super-soft cream-filled sponge cake with strawberries and blueberries on top was from a cake shop. The very simple decorations added extra light to our small but lovely moment.

We cut the cake and blew the candles, wishing him a healthy and joyful birthday.
We bought these gifts for his birthday.
And I decided to start something wonderful for him—Me and my husband wrote a heartfelt letter to him, and we hope to continue this sweet habit every year on his birthday. I’m sure this will become a beautiful, cherished memory for all of us—me, my husband, and one day, for him too.

So, Hithesh Turned One
Happy Birthday, Puthu.
Grow, bloom, and glow in your own beautiful way.
