Being pregnant is hard, truly, simultaneously interesting, and a loving plus glowing journey.

Today, I am sharing with you the five most valuable and helpful things I always wanted to hear when I was pregnant. I spent all thirty-seven weeks in a foreign country without any of my relatives. My mother arrived exactly five days before the arrival of my baby boy.

So, I was with my husband throughout my pregnancy. In the first trimester, I was lifeless, I could not even stand on my feet. But I could survive.

I always trust my gut. You might feel vulnerable. You will receive tons of advices. I was fortunate enough not to have such unnecessary advices. Most Sri Lankan women I have seen, fight with superstitious beliefs put on by some of their elders. (this is the situation of most of South Asian countries, as I know ) Some are truly important. I would say and accept with no doubt but some are mere words and beliefs. I always wanted to have guidance, but it should be logical and practical. So keep trust in your gut and your true intuition should come first. I am always happy and satisfied that I could spend my pregnancy keeping my trust in my gut. It was a great mental satisfaction which is wordless and priceless.

The Body- Pregnancy expects you to be different physically. You would miss your curves, but still, you are beautiful. Admire yourself. You are bearing a great human soul inside you. I imagine the feeling! A pregnant lady, what a lovely scene.

The hospital bag- The hospital tells what you need to bring, this hospital, I gave birth to my sweet boy offered me a list, I was truly surprised. It was not a list actually, but just a short note.(I could remember the lengthy list my sister got in her delivery in Sri Lanka.)But, I would say take anything you love to have with you, because you are the one who is going to face this battle, the rest is just facilitating for you.

The delivery– Honestly, I was afraid giving birth. It is so legitimate to have a fear. The pain is not simple, but the plus point is that it is not continuous. You are given a short period to get ready for the next pain. Bring anything you might feel good to ease your pain. oil diffuser or a piece of music you love to listen to would be great. And never forget a bottle with a straw. You can store coconut water instead of water if you like. This would be life-saving when you are on the bed of the labor room.

The team: Who will be with you when you are in the labor room bed? Do you love having your husband near you rubbing your back? It is always your choice. Create a healthy and comfortable environment around you.

After all, you are doing well, and you are a great mom.
