There are good hearts out there!!!

The whole world is in chaos. So many things are happening in every nook and corner, but there are good hearts out there. They stand up for truth, honesty, social justice, self-honesty, and morality. The core elements of the human soul.

A few days back, I saw heartwarming news on CNN. I wanted to jot down my feelings and gratefulness on the very day I saw it. Sadly, I could not set a time.

A ring had been found by an engineer called Joe, who was in charge of the debris site in the USA. The debris was a pile of memories of people who lost their whole lives due to the hurricane scattered across Florida last month. It is hard to imagine a life after such a disaster. We experienced such a situation in Sri Lanka long ago, in 2004, the Tsunami. Lots lost both lives and what they earned. All good hearts around this tiny island contributed in every way to bring back the scattered lives.

Likewise, Joe’s single effort to find the real owner of the ring was a heart felting indeed. The ring box is covered with black velvet and inside it is written, “I was 18 when my parents gave it to me”. These simple words are so sentimental.

I do not know whether he has found the real owner yet. But his intention and good heart sums up the whole story. In a time in which the whole community was struggling to come out of the disaster, this single act was an enchanting effort. One might find that going in search of the real owner of the ring is like finding a needle in a haystack. But I feel the effort is incredible!!

Where all those good hearts are dwelling in? How big our heart is?

Among these good, we are hearing the way how Gaza hospitals have become a battlefield, Israelis drop bombs on Lebanese hospitals, children and women suffer a lot in every sense, and global climate change risks lives around the world. Children who need to be in school are battling poverty, hunger, and climate change.

The world is getting hotter and dryer due to the shortage of good hearts. And horrible things are going to happen in due course.

But just a single good deed soothes the soul. Personally, as a believer in “Karma,” I firmly believe that “what you sow, so shall you reap.” No matter how insignificant your deed is, if you spread kindness to the world, the universe will definitely pay you off.

Let us put our technological gadgets down and have a look around the world. You can do more for this world than you think. Sometimes, it does not cost money at all, a gentle smile, would be sufficient.
