It was 2007 when I sat for the G.C.E.Ordinary Examination. I did English Literature as an optional subject. That was the place I started to love poems. We had an anthology that contained poems of stalwarts of English literature. Out of all twenty or thirty poems (I am not sure of the numbers exactly) still I can remember the “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost. The way how my late literature teacher Mrs.Kodagoda explained everything is amazing! And Mr.Gunasekara, my master of literature. All played well job in without beating around the bush. Missed the all beautiful souls immensely. And thankful for all these beautiful souls forever.
My love for literature never ended. Including my sister and her best friend, we had our little literature circle. What a wonderful memory. I could not be more grateful for the kinder spirits I found in our shared love language, including our beloved master Mr.Athula Gamage. Soo thankful!!
In my school we had no specially designated place for English Literature classes so we went deep down to the poems under the heavy trees where our benches were laid. What a sweet memory! Now I see, that was the best place for literature. So we squeezed poems with nature. This creative thinking is just unbelievable.
“stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening ” by Robert Frost is highly connected with nature and our lives. Creative plus logical. Even after seventeen years the latter part of the poem is still well remembered.
“The woods are lovely dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep”
Copied by-stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening ” by Robert Frost
It simply interprets “Life is lovely but dark and deep not lovely always all thick and think is well packed. Before I go for my eternal sleep, I have “promises to keep” What a lovely reading.
poetry is so healing. And a gentle reminder sometimes. And it matters. Simply say human creativity matters. Throughout life time it matters. This poem always boosts me up and gently reminds me what I am supposed to do.
