How about your Halloween Dinner?
I know I’m a bit late in posting this Halloween story, but better late than never!
I’m originally from South Asia, where Halloween isn’t a very popular event, but I’ve always loved celebrating occasions like this. Even though I’m not Christian, I enjoy the third-quarter vibe of the year. So, for the first time, I prepared a special Halloween dinner. While the world outside was busy with costumes and candy, my family and I enjoyed a simple but amazing meal.
It was a little spooky dinner table!
I prepared everything myself. Some of my friends ask me, “How do you manage all this with a baby?” My usual answer is: Yes, things aren’t always easy, but I love being happy. So I celebrate, and I do whatever I love. My never-changing answer!!
I started cooking after my husband came home from work, but I had prepared some things, like the pizza dough, the day before, which made everything much easier. My husband also helped me with many things.

I wanted to bake the pizza in a spooky way; it went well, but it was not a perfect spooky face.
It took about three hours to cook everything and clean the kitchen. We then washed up and set the table. I played soft music with a spooky background, and I added a black cat light and a Halloween pumpkin I bought at the 100-yen shop.

How about these little cuties?
Then we were ready to begin.
Here’s what we had:
- Spooky pizza
- Monster mini buns
- Monster faces

The spooky monster face, with strawberry jam and egg wash.
My husband appreciated all my effort, and I felt so happy with myself.
We ate slowly, talking about nothing and everything, pausing to enjoy each bite simply because we made it together. Our little boy was a bit surprised by the dishes on the table: pizzas not perfectly round, decorated with ketchup eyes and mouths; mini buns with cheesy tongues, big cucumber eyes, and ketchup details.
It was real family time—the best way to celebrate Halloween.
