How big is your heart?

How big is your heart?

How big is your heart?

Last week while scrolling down in my news feed I noticed, a news something interesting! heart melting as well heart touching. So I thought to share those with you. The first one, from Bhante Saranapala thero‘s face book page. On the eve of the New Year 2025, monks of the temple had allocated the day for blessings. A little girl among the devotees was tied a blessing bracelet. Then again she had asked another blessing bracelet for her doll. Mentioning this cherished moment, Bhante Saranapala thero had valued the beauty of kind hearts.

What a kind and compassionate soul.

I have met incredibly loving and compassionate souls. The deep capacity of love and compassion extended by certain people is unbelievable. Good men and women, thoughtful teenagers, and active bundles of toddlers all have big hearts. A single act by a single man changes the world. You might not be able to change the whole society, but your single attempt would make a difference.

I could still remember a song I heard in my childhood. An old man was planting a mango sapling, a little child comes to him and asks, “what are you doing grandfather?” the conversation goes on and finally the child wonders about the old man’s attempt on planting a tree. The old man is at the edge of his life. But, still he is serving to his society. He might not be able to have a sweet mango from the “very tree” that he is planting today. But he is serving. What a big heart!

I could remember how I was fed authentic Sri Lankan foods by one of my friends when I was pregnant with my baby boy. I was badly suffering from morning sickness. She was a real angel to me at that time.

We all need such souls. A world filled with love and compassion. The time has come for the whole world to unite. I listen to the news, and I am devastated by the horrific ongoing war in Gaza. Children are weeping. Many of them are with severe wounds; climate change is happening, and the whole world is facing lots of weather issues. But, still, the world is divided. Handful of rich people and multinational companies are gaining a large amount of profits. Where all these good hearts gone?

Whatever happening on this planet, there are still big heartholders.
