Zero waste Life- The life you have to have!!

Culture Healthy Living Mindfulness

Have you ever think of this?

When we come to the topic of “zero waste life” style. It could be applied each phase of life.

Our whole life is a very limited one. We are given a very short period of time, on planet earth. So we are not allowed to waste a single minute of this precious life with sorrow or moody.

And when we come to the day today life while consuming things as well while doing the household chores, zero waste life style is a good way to practice things. By practicing zero waste policy you become more conscious over the things you are doing. I have been practicing this since long time. And I firmly believe it as a kind of mindfulness. You know what you are doing at this very moment. You are living in the moment. I think this came to my life from my mother and my grand mother. I wonder whether they knew this terms or , but both of them worked on it in a clever way.

In Sri Lanka I rarely saw this as a social philosophy. But I practiced it in my home under my mother’s shelter. We collected seasonal fruits like mango, jack seeds and preserved it with various methods. We never threw away the rice washed water, each drop helped to grow our vegetable plots. It was really wonderful and soul soothing memory to remember again and again.

Unless in Sri Lanka, I am witnessing “zero waste” life style in major level. The concept is said to be coming from the traditional concept of “Mottainai”. It is all about cherishing what we have. A very simple but great example is from the bathroom,

  1. Hand washing water recycled from sink in to the toilet.

This was a total novel experience for me on my first day in Japan. As well “thrift shops” are a common scene in the streets. You have lot more around you but the best thing is practicing the mind to use carefully and mindfully.

When you start loving things you are consuming, you feel it as a life filled figure, then you protect it, and start the Art of cherishing . That is the greatest gratitude one can offer over things they are consuming.

Have you ever heard of the concept? and I love to hear about your ways and methods of practicing “zero waste life”

And one more I would love to talk about on my YouTube channel in due course too. Here is the link to the channel.
