“Summer isn’t bad—in fact, I enjoy the vibe—but if someone were to ask me what my favourite season is, I wouldn’t say summer without a second thought. The rising temperatures are just too hard to bear. When I was pregnant with my son, the summer heat made all the aches and pains feel twice as intense.”
But I fall in love with the summer evenings. Even though the air is not cool clear sky and the warmth of the setting sun create an awesome vibe.
August is the hottest month in Japan. So we have to wait for the official summer vacation, but I can’t wait at all. As a nature person I would love to suck the fresh air, feel the sunshine.
So, we three set off for a relaxing walk. Like us, our little boy also loves to go out. I need to show him the world beyond our four walls, and I love and wait to teach him that life is always wonderful when we are with nature.
We took our boy out in his stroller. Normally, I carry him in the baby carrier, but this time my husband suggested we use the stroller instead so I could walk more freely. I agreed with him, and we left the carrier behind. But, as it turned out, our little one didn’t want to stay in the stroller at all—we ended up taking turns carrying him in our arms. Haha! How could he change within this short period? we discussed but ended up without a concrete conclusion. However here in after we determined not to use the stroller till he walks.
Though the evening walk is so refreshing. We strolled through the open space near Nagareyama-Otakanomori Station and did a bit of window shopping. I really liked the bookstore we visited—there were many different kinds of books, though most of them were in Japanese. I was hoping to find a cookbook, but none of them caught my eye. Still, I’ve decided to go back again when they have new books on display. Still our boy was still in our arms wiggling his little hands towards the book shelves.
I would love to share something interesting with you. A recently discovered an interesting fact—you can do anything without getting bored if you pair a slightly boring task with something fun or engaging. Can you guess what I mean? You already know that I am in the process of learning a new language, and I love cooking. So, I imagine a Japanese cookbook would satisfy both needs! Have you ever tried this little trick?

I had prepared my husband’s favourite ginger tea. On the very first day we met—in Kandy, Sri Lanka—I had brought the same tea with me. I still remember how he praised every sip. Since then, most of our outings have included this tea. Then we bought ham cheese bun from Lawsons, perfect and more than enough for evening snacks.

The town is getting darker. After a lot of talks, laughs, jokes, and serious talks, along with the aches of our arms (hahaha), we returned home.
How about your evening walk in Summer?
