How to help a new Mom

Have you ever thought ” How to help a new Mom”?

This is the best time of the year to talk about, “helping a new Mom”, because I am one who needs it!! Giving the helping hand to a new Mom is priceless!! Even a single word from you is so comfortable.

Take care of their safety

Whether you agree or not, safety comes first. It matters, and it is always up to the visitors. If you even have the mildest symptoms, you have to take care of the still-growing immune system of the newborn. You have to be cautious about the level of precaution.

Foods in the fridge

If you can remember, mine was a mini fridge that taught me hundreds of lessons on healthy eating. But life after having kids is so different, and it requires additional things. (haha) Normally, I do not have lots of frozen foods and meal preps. Having a stocked fridge is a blessing and a great relax now. Meat, egg(I would die without this) fish, fresh milk, fresh fruits, tuna cans, greeneries and juices – always possible for a well-balanced diet. My mother from Sri Lanka brought tons of dried foods including, flour, spices, sweets, and my favourite Sri Lankan menus. All these were life saving!!

One important thing I would recommend for new Moms is Vitamin C fruits, which are helpful for iron absorption.

warm blankets and pajamas

My boy was born in winter, so we both wanted lots of warm clothes. These warm pajama sets were so good. I loved those pajamas and ordered three more different sets from Amazon. My mom bought nappies, warm blanket sets and, cozy socks, mittens from my loving sister. My husband and I ordered some padded baby buntings, snowsuits, and winter wrappers too. (I am really sorry that I couldn’t save the links, but all were from Amazon.)

Tackle any chores you can handle

When our boy was born, my mother came over from Sri Lanka and helped me with almost everything. Washing dishes, cooking, washing and folding laundry, taking out trash, anything is helpful. I could take a good rest. I feel so emotional when I think of the consistency of her care. When you are living across the ocean, away from your bonds, you will understand how helpful people around you are.

Listen to her

Many new moms love a companion, someone by their side to listen to their birth story. If she needs someone to listen to her, be that person.

What would you add to this?
