Becoming a new parent, How do you feel?

Days pass quickly. I am a mom of a three-week-old tiny soul. Becoming a new parent, how do you feel?

Thousands of feelings revolve around me, and I am wondering about myself and how I am dealing with them.

On One Fine Day in Autumn

On one fine day in Autumn at 4.11 a.m., my doctor placed my teeny tiny soul into my breast. He was red, wet, and crying endlessly. My dried lips, shivering body and split blood told my whole birth story. Along With all the labor pains, my heart was about to burst. I was like roaming between two worlds, weeping and smiling. I never knew how to handle two opposite feelings in such a great way, it was so magical, and my vocabulary is not powerful enough to express that feeling. My beloved husband and my loving mother were stroking my head. What a feeling!!

You did a great job, sweety!! He uttered with a shivering voice!! How emotional

Dealing With Feelings

You are dealing with undefinable feelings. Adjusting to motherhood is not easy. “Sometimes you feel alone and you might feel that you have made a big mistake. But believe in me. If you feel the same way in one day, remember. you won’t be the only one feeling the same.” one of my friends said once. What a timely teaching!!

You are doing so well, and you will be

I feel so busy, attending to breastfeeding, taking care of my boy take a considerable amount of time. This monotonous schedule feel uncomfortable sometimes. Such a moment I lie on the couch and have a hot cup of milk, or just lie doing nothing. My husband’s helpful words are so comforting. He says “you are doing well and you will be doing well. Take care of yourself. Keep up your courage, you are sacrificing a lot on behalf of someone to see the world!!

While nursing your new born, you may hear tons of advices, this is so frequent Sri Lankan context. Such as, “you have to do this way, that way” ,”you have no enough milk, is that enough for your child?” “Why do you use bottle milk? do the breastfeeding, you are not nursing him well”
I could avoid such unnecessary and useless heart aching comments. Only a mom know what she feels about her baby.

Breast, bottle, formula, mixed Just feed your baby. However, you can. ” This is the only positive advice you are to have. I heard this moving story of a new mom who committed suicide not having enough breastmilk for her newborn. Just keep in mind, that you are feeding yours at your best level.

You are a super Mom !!

And cheers to the wild exhausting new baby nights. No difference between day and night. You are burning your midnight oil for a worthy cause!! While breastfeeding my little boy at early 2 am, all at once I remember the way how I survived throughout the pregnancy. “vomiting mornings”, “tiresome days”, “swelling ankles” what a journey! Every month, every year is so exciting and amazing with a new born. You are seeing and feeling a new experience. That feeling help me to cherish my latest title as a “new parent” and it avoids my tiredness.

Becoming a new parent, How did you feel? Did you feel the “moment”?
