Landing on a baby name: What did you think?

Landing on a baby name

“Landing on a baby name.” What did you think?

When choosing names for a tiny little soul, you are dealing with a serious and important business on behalf of someone else. Lol!! So we have to be careful. That was how I thought when landing on my baby boy’s name.

We did not know if we were having a boy or a girl, so we were looking for baby names on both sides at the very first. After the confirmation of the “gender,” it was easy to choose.

We both as a couple are not a fan of “popular names” instead we both love “uniqueness and simplicity”

My loving husband and I sought “short and sweet uncommon” names when I was pregnant. As Sri Lankans, we have quiet, long names. When you are living in a foreign country, you will understand how “long names” work!! It was lucky we both unanimously agreed on a “short” name. We both have bitter experiences of having long, long names. Lol!!

So, we gave up on the idea of a middle name.

I updated my iPad once I came up with attractive boy names under the heading “name for my baby boy.” We stayed up late and discussed the baby names that I had jotted down.

Some of my relatives and friends suggested having a name for my baby from a “baby name site.” But by then, we had settled on our baby boy’s name. “Hithesh” We had no idea the popularity of the name, we both liked it and settled. When landing on a baby name, we Sri Lankans ask about its meaning. It is so common. Ours meant to be “friendly,” and later, we found that the name “Hithesh” literally means “Lord of goodness” in Hindi.

Finally, the sweet little soul landed in our family before the due date; in the labor room when he was on my breast, at that point, I felt that we had selected the “right name”

What were your feelings when landing on your baby’s name? Did you enjoy the process?
