Are you planning for a gender reveal party?

“Gender reveal” is one exciting moment for every parent.

Getting ready for pregnancy is amazing. You will have a long journey, even if it is full of discomfort. Carrying a soul inside your body is fantastic. Sleepless nights, several trips to the bathroom, the daily growing belly—all these physical discomforts are going to be paid off along with the gift of nature.

The most important thing for many “moms and dads to be” is what they are going to create. A girl or a boy?

Sri Lankans are very keen on this and are counting the days to come cross the gender of the soul carrying. While i was bearing mine our parents always waiting for the word “you are going to have a ……” As I have heard from my Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic, it is not a tradition in Japan to reveal the gender of the baby before birth, but it has become a way of sharing joy. I saw this article about “gender reveal cakes” in Japan.

I too wanted to know but at the same time thought i want it to be a suprise!!! but finally I agreed with the majority. So by 20 weeks we came to know !!!

We are both not very party people, so we had no gender reveal parties. Even without parties, it was great, and we felt it!! We communicated the “good news” with our parents in Sri Lanka, and the feeling was perfect. Both my husband’s and my sisters are having girls, so ours is the “Boy.” So, the latest addition added extra happiness to our parents.

When I thought not to know the gender before, following his instincts my husband asked, You are imagining yourself as a “girl” mom, aren’t you? To be honest he was right. But the truth is ours was a boy. I have no single idea the way how my mind prepared to see mine as a “girl”, haha!! But, since I followed the majority of my family on early gender reveal, I had time to process. I searched about “baby boys” more. And  I am so thankful with whatever I am having , all because the gift was soo perfect!! and it is a  bundle of joy!

What my mother always tells is, “whether it is a girl or boy, it’s a gift and revealing the early gender comes along with the fun moments of the pregnancy.” But the popularity of the gender reveal party is increasing. I have seen many of my social media mates throw gender reveal parties cutting blue and pink cakes. One particular gender reveal party I watched in my instagram feed attracted me.

A midwife writes a the gender of the baby and gives it to the parents. It was so cool!! Parents joyful faces tell everything. And someone comes and take a photograph of the happy parents to be. What a pleasant moment!!

How did you plan your gender reveal party or how are you going to have it? Any gender reveal cakes, pink blue ingredients, gender reveal balloons ?
