Learning a new language, how do you feel

This talk is built around myself because it is all about how I navigate my language-learning process. Acquisition of a new language and immersing in another culture is different and amazing. Meantime it widens your scope of vision. When you are in the middle of people who have the same set of narrow minds, the same mind may come to you too and you get used to it. But different people, different cultures change you and expose you to some other level. The more you see, the more you can feel.

Therefore every single person who is in the process of learning a new language says the very same thing. Their possible answer is, “Learning a new language is a wonder”. However, the process of learning is not that easy all the time. The way how you practice always matters.

I have two thoughts on this. And I would say, this is my experience and this might be different from some other’s perspective definitely.

when you are in the process of learning a new language voluntarily you are free and you love to embrace it with all your heart. And that learning is very effective and fruitful in every way. You are not only learning the spoken and writing but the whole culture embedded with it.

The flip side of the coin bears something different, you are requested to learn the language by force because you are going to settle in a particular country where most of its citizens are good only with their native language. So you might be in a super hurry and you are taking the language as a burden. In a real sense learning a new language is always challenging. But such a mentality is not healthy. All we need is time and patience. You might be hurry to do things but it doesn’t work that way.

Which one do you prefer, without an argument, we all want to be with the language leisurely. However, we all have individual timelines, and though we love to learn the language leisurely you might not be able to do so. If so we will have to find better ways to learn language leisurely.

Here are some tips for doing by myself. Being with the textbook materials and other stuff all day might not be 100% successful.

Talk to yourself using what you learned so far.

Keep up a journal about your daily activities and write it in your new language.

Make friends around you and use the language even though it is very difficult to convey your message clearly to them.

Grab each chance to use your new language

Get the language inside you, use words, and always listen although you can understand nothing, because an unknowing language chemistry begins inside you secretly and slowly.

How do you befriend with your new language?
