Adventure in the Asian Food Market

Culture

This weekend we stepped out home for a train journey. Officially spring has sprung and everything is feeling so wonderful and great.
I was looking for a shiny day to get fresh air. We got three trains and reached the destination an Asian shop with topical foods we love to have as Sri Lankans.
We bought banana flower which is far less common than banana fruit, but edible and healthy. Have you ever tried this curry? “Banana flower” curry can be made prepared in various styles.

Banana flower curry

You can add some coconut milk along with spices commonly used in Sri Lanka like chili, curry powder, turmeric plus other garlic onion curry leaves, etc. Super delicious grave with white rice. This is not the only way of preparing this, there are more recipes you can try with banana flowers.

My next choice was ash plantain. Have you either tried or seen this? This also can be cooked as a gravy along with the same spices plus condiments.

I remember old recipes from my mother, which came from my granny. It was prepared with the outer skin of the ash plantain, Just peel the skin, then fry it with some dried fish. add some chili flakes, turmeric plus salt to your taste.

Mangoes are great fruit as well as mouth-watering curry to have. But this is a little bit spicy. The most important thing is you can keep it for several days. Have you tried?

Mango curry

Just cut the mango into pieces and you can add chili, turmeric, curry powder, fried curry powder, salt, and two teaspoons of sugar mix all well and keep for marination. Add some oil and ginger garlic paste plus curry leaves put the stuff into the frying paste of ginger garlic, once the mango is getting tender add a little amount of coconut milk. A great curry you can have with white rice.

Exploring and tasting different types of food cultures is a great expedition to have.

Today I wanted to table on the topic of my adventure in the “Asian food market” all because of this reason. We are discussing sharing things on this platform so that we can know the world better. The Asian food style, especially when it comes to South Asia things are different from the other parts of the world. In Sri Lanka, we have thousands of vegetable varieties, which are primarily cooked in gravy type.

Japanese foods taught me how to represent things in the best way. Indian cuisine is always a blend of great spices and condiments. Western dishes are time-saving. My own country is a hotspot of various types of tropical vegetables, fruits, and greeneries and rich in nutrition.

We learn from food and sweets as well as foods that can bring the communities together. Let’s talk about food. Which part of this world are you representing?

Love! xoxo!!
