This topic is personal indeed. Some give up putting on makeup most of the time, and some love to have it all the time. One day while I was in a cool chat with my friend she said,
“… humans are social beings and often influenced by the norms of the society. You can hardly get out of these norms. You are a woman and you are expected to have makeup. When you are in a stereotyped society like Sri Lanka, you are expected to do that. Especially marketing and all sorts of media ask us to be dissatisfied with our natural beauty. So as a human being, you are having it. ” with her elaboration I came up with some flashbacks. I could well remember how I became the subject of such occasion. Attending with “no makeup”, in wedding ceremonies in Sri Lanka was scary in some moments. I don’t know how it works nowadays.
I wear no makeup but I always love to see people who are having it. I have my single makeup when I want it to be extra great. And occasionally I put on some lipstick or mascara if I go somewhere fancy. Except that, I stand with natural treatments plus healthy foods and supplements. And I truly believe in it.
I accept my wrinkles and scars, I am an owner of all these more and less. There was a time in my life I also wanted to remove all patches from my face. Today I feel like I am allowing the world to really see me. No hiding. Although I use a simple moisture-perfumed cream only to avoid burn and dryness. I feel like I am in the process of becoming comfortable with myself.
People with pretty good makeup are a fascinating scene to have. I love to see others’ expressions of creativity. No one has the right to judge someone else holding a different view. You always look beautiful and glowing.
So how is your makeup thing?
