This winter we were planning for skii. since this is my first skii experience, I was longing. The ski resort of Ueda was chosen. You will have to travel about 2km from Ueda station to find Sugadairakogen ski resort. There are many ski resorts including Karuizawa, the station before Ueda. But Nera wanted to travel deep. It was a great choice actually. More you go deep more you find eye capturing views. So Sugadairakogen was a great choice with great natural surrounding.
This is how our ski resort seen at distance. What a view!!
We reserved tickets to Ueda by Shinkansen the bullet train.
It took about 45 minutes from Omiya to Ueda, The shinkansen experience also was a great joy. Can you see the mountain covered with heavy snow cap? Any guess? Absolutely it is Fuji san, the highest and the world famous holy mountain in Japan. The picture might not be clear, with the speed we couldn’t have a great capture, a good close up of course. So I had to satisfy with this.
Both stepped Ueda station with cold with temperature of 1Celsius. The town is surrounded by a circle of greeny mountains. The possible reason for the low temperature than a urban area.
See the mountain view!! The picture was taken at the 10th floor of other hotel so I could capture a fine view.
We directly traveled to skii resort by bus. The adventure started. We rented only poles, boots and the bindings the rest was ordered by ourselves. My total ski packing is in packing tips. If you would like click to see. We paid for the whole day and enjoyed well. yes it was not an easy task, since both Nera and myself were apprentices task was difficult. But it was a great experience and we both managed to make things better than imagined. Even it was the first time time Nera showed considerable colours in it.
See the skii people. LOL!!
We went up by rope way and the below scenery was magnificent, since I was bit alarmed on rope way thing missed the captures badly.
We spent their all the day and It was a great exprerience of course. Ski is all about balance and practice I think. Practice makes you perfect. Love to hear your voice on skii, if you have ever had the experience.
And I want to ask this wise gathering on your techniques on limiting the speed, that was challenging. Isn’t it?Uncontrollable speed seems so dangerous in skii. Help poor me in improving !
Then back to our resting place, we stayed at . It was a nice place directly opposite to the Ueda station. It was “Sotetsu Fresa Inn” Choosing a hotel close to the station was a great thing for us since we used trains as our trsportaion method. And it was a great resting place for a tiresome day. Everything was fine and we could relax well. And importantly the view of the city at night was great.
Everything was cozy, warm and comfortable for a winter night!
Next morning we planned the city tour. Our city tour covered several places, if you wish to see photographs I expect to cover it up in a separate post.
Much love and love to hear from you about skii!
